Exciting Learning Events and News on PMIW Member Survey

September has always had a feeling of newness and beginning for me, and this year is no exception. Your Chapter’s Board and volunteers have been busy over the summer preparing an outstanding line-up of programs and activities.

You don’t want to miss the first of many programs that PMIW will link together, offering both the strategic and tactical solutions to navigate personal and professional challenges.  This upcoming 2-part series, which can be done independently or separately, addresses the thing we all fear – CHANGE. On September 14, Maria Wade will present ‘How to Survive and Thrive During Organizational Change’, as the Keynote speaker of our Monthly Chapter meeting.  A well-recognized professional coach, Maria will introduce the ADKAR Model to facilitate change, whether you are the target or the driver of change. Then, as you are able, Maria will be featured again at the Breakfast Roundtable on September 28; this time, she will be working directly with your personal issues dealing with Change, in a more informal conversation.

Don’t miss either of these programs if you can help it. This is a great opportunity for you to match theory with practice.

Also, this Fall, we will be offering the Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) Exam Prep Class, starting September 18. Taught by John Sherlock, this is your avenue to obtain this popular certification. These are live virtual presentation classes, including interaction with the instructor and other participants. John, a PMI Authorized Training Partner, is a very popular and effective teacher; he will also be offering the PMP Exam Prep Class starting October 16.

Our Lunch & Learn session on September 24 will be an exercise in applying the feedback from the April 23 L&L, to create the strategic roadmap for the future of this series. Participate in the discussion of preferences for learning styles, motivations and challenges for learning, and topics for future L&L's. This session will be facilitated by PMIW member Timothy Brandon who brings extensive experience in group learning dynamics. This is an opportunity for you to join with your colleagues to create a dynamic learning agenda.

If you have a goal to become a stronger, more confident speaker check out the PMIW Toastmasters Club on September 21. Here you will find a supportive setting to practice and learn from your peers. Also, you will have a chance to help manage the meetings and practicing leadership skills.

You will find more information on these programs and classes, and the registration links on our website.

Thank you to all of you who responded to the Membership Preferences Survey. This information will help us understand your preferences and objectives, and what you would like to see come from our Chapter. Results from the survey will be reported at the September 14 Chapter Meeting. However, a report is just the beginning. We will use the data in our planning and programming. Also, your input is not limited to the survey. Contact me or any of the other Board members with your ideas and suggestions. Better still, participate with us in planning and delivering a robust calendar of activities. Let us know your interest; we will be happy to discuss participation opportunities.
