Message from the President - January 2018

A Brand New & Exciting Upcoming Year!

Happy New Year Everyone!!! I hope you enjoyed some time off with your friends and family to celebrate the holiday season. This is the start of a BIG year for all of us at PMI Westchester, as our 15th Anniversary is coming up. As we work to finalize plans, keep an eye out for e-mails from us.

As we begin a new year, it’s a good time to think about things you want to continue doing and others you might want to consider changing. As project managers we know process improvement is an important element. It’s the ability to recognize what worked and what did not work and how we can change it for the better. If we don’t participate in this cycle, we aren’t doing ourselves the justice we deserve.

Maybe one of the things you are thinking about is reinventing yourself. Well, isn’t this your lucky day as our our speaker this month, Harry Prichett, will be discussing career reinvention. Often many people hit a “wall” in their careers and aren’t sure how to move beyond it. Harry has identified four stages of career reinvention. Although people’s paths through each of these stages may vary, he firmly believes thoroughly engaging in each is essential.

Our Breakfast Roundtable team this month will be helping attendees optimize lessons learned. Facilitator Alexandria Nevins, a Sr. Project Manager at Altice USA, will show you how to best put together lessons learned, review with team, and how to implement project improvements based off of lessons learned. She will also introduce agile / scrum to a waterfall orientated workplace.

One last, but important reminder to all members!! You should have received an e-mail in late December regarding our bylaws vote. If you haven’t participated in it yet, you still have time to vote, until Monday, January 8th!!!

See you at the January Chapter Meeting next week!
