There are a lot of things happening at PMI Westchester this month. Back in April we sent a note out asking the membership to review proposed updates to the bylaws. We are required by PMI's Global Operations Center (GOC) to ratify our bylaws every few years to ensure compliance. Our bylaws were several years old and needed to be more in line with current operations. As part of the 30-day review process by the membership, an issue was discovered by a member and raised to the board. The Chapter, in good conscience, cannot put the bylaws forward for a vote at the June Chapter meeting given the changes will require review and approval by both the PMI GOC as well as you, our membership. This would have meant a duplicated effort on your part. Therefore, the board will work with the PMI GOC to resolve the issue and hold an electronic vote by the membership over the summer.
The June Chapter meeting is our Annual Business Meeting. We will review our accomplishments, financials, and other key Chapter information to those attending. This is also your chance to ask questions or bring ideas to the board for consideration. As I’ve been saying since I took office, this is YOUR chapter. We want to hear from you. Finally, we will be announcing the winners of our recent Board of Directors election who will begin their term on July 1st.
After our Annual Business Meeting is completed, we have a great speaker lined up for you. Steve Devaux, President of Analytic Project Management of Boston, MA, and a Founding Fellow of the Project Management College of Scheduling, will be focusing on new and quantified value-based enhancements to traditional critical path scheduling. By focusing on projects as investments, and on the impact of time on that investment, these new techniques and metrics offer the ability to target the BEST ways to justify needed resources, to compress or recover schedule, and to increase a project’s value.
Our neighboring chapter, PMI SNEC (Southern New England Chapter), is holding a Principles of Risk Management course on Saturday, June 17th and Saturday, June 24th in Waterbury, CT. This two-day event (concurrent Saturdays), is an intermediate-to-advanced level course for those who wish to expand their skills to identify and manage risks more effectively. Pricing and registration information can be found on our website. You must register by June 14th to attend this event.
One final note, our June Chapter Meeting will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Tarrytown, NY, and is FREE to all PMI Westchester members. This will be our final chapter meeting until September. The Board and committees will be working diligently this summer to ensure we have a great program lined up for you through June 2018. Make sure you check the website for details.
