Keeping It All Together, Project Team Alignment (586K pdf)
Perhaps the greatest threat to a successful project is the misalignment of the stakeholders. When the entire team is not motivated to proceed in a unified direction, it is nearly impossible to achieve the desired result. Consequently, the further a team diverges from the path of mutual understanding and common interest, the more difficult it becomes to realign stakeholder goals.

I will present a status report template and a specific methodology that will assist the project manager to provide universal understanding of the project’s status, and when used in conjunction with effective informal communications, maintain alignment with all the stakeholders.

Is there a better way to schedule your next project?
Let’s review the basics, components, phases, history and software. Do we have the scope and resources identified that will enable us to prepare a realistic schedule? Did we do the best job of component prioritization? Did we set goals and identify deliverables to make the project a success?

Everett will share some new techniques to understand: practical project development issues, estimating task durations, options for setting durations, evaluating critical path and tasks, refining schedule techniques, creating the final schedule, tracking and reporting progress, defining the variance between the baseline and actual plan and closing the project.

“Detailed Estimates for Projects” (528K pdf)
At some point during the life of the project, the project manager must develop a detailed project estimate. The detailed estimate is known as the bottom-up estimate and it is derived from detailed information that is contained in the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Resource Breakdown Structure (RBS) at the time of the estimate. Detailed and accurate estimates require substantial definitive information about the project. Although a detailed estimate requires a relatively large block of time and effort, it pays dividends many times over during the monitoring and change management phases of the project. This presentation is focused on development of a deliverable WBS and a comprehensive RBS for the project, as a prelude for a structured project estimate that would facilitate project change management.

"Feeling EPM"
Now that technology tools for Enterprise Project Management are very accessible many companies are considering implementing enterprise-wide project management. While technology may solve many process control challenges it doesn't address the management and organizational maturity commitments required to realize the benefit from implementing EPM. Implementing EPM tools changes the way people work. The most significant, and often hidden, challenge for every organization is to manage through the human change requirements. Feeling EPM tackles this subject head-on; first by confronting it with insight into its origins and presenting strategies for managing through it with real-world examples of both successful and failed strategies. Gain valuable insight from a presenter who has worked on implementations large and small across industries such as: Professional Services, IT, Pharmaceuticals, High-tech Manufacturing, Semi-custom Manufacturing, Legal, Marketing and Ad Agencies to name a few. Thinking about implementing EPM tools in your organization? Get a feel for it first!

"Engineering Aspects of the Construction of NYC Water Tunnel No. 3"
Deep beneath Manhattan, nine miles (14.5 km) of tunnel have been excavated and ten shafts have been constructed, completing the excavation for New York City’s Water Tunnel No. 3. The contract for $670 million was executed by the joint contracting venture of Schiavone Shea Frontier-Kemper. The tunnel, 12’ 6 ” (3.8 m) in diameter and 500 plus feet (152 m) deep, was driven by a tunnel boring machine. Nine new shafts averaging 530 feet (161 m) deep were constructed in a variety of geologic and urban environments using blasting, raise boring, soil mix walls, ground freezing, pile driving, and soldier piles and lagging. The engineering components and production rates for the tunnel boring machine and raise boring machines are presented. Blasting techniques in the shaft (subject to vibration and noise restrictions) are presented. The structure of the combined DEP and consultant staff is discussed.
