Fall 2010 |
PMP Exam Preparation Study Series PMI Westchester is pleased to offer a PMP exam preparation study group to further assist you to take your PMP exam. This program requires a 6 week commitment. If you are almost ready to sit for your exam, or just need a bit more study incentive, this is the group for you! It is fast paced and informal. Students do a chapter by chapter review of the PMBOK and learn from one another. An up front baseline exam is required along with a final exam. (A passing grade is required to receive educational credits for this class.) During class we review hundreds of sample exam questions and dissect each question to identify the best possible answer. This helps students determine their readiness to sit for the exam. Some materials are provided, light dinners are included, and weekly home work assignments are mandatory. Class size will vary, but a minimum of 8 students is needed to begin a class. Our success rates over the past 6 years have been excellent over 96%. Classes are planned for the Fall 2010 semester: dates, days, time and place will be determined. Watch this web-page for updates. Prerequisites: Each student must provide his/her copy of the PMI Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) 4th edition, ISBN# 193069945X. It is also recommended that you purchase the PMP Exam Prep book by Rita Mulcahy 6th edition, ISBN# 978-1-932735-18-5. Amazon.com offers both books at a discounted price. Instructor: Anita Wilton has been teaching our study group classes since 2004. She retired from IBM after 23 years as a PM. She is now a consultant and professor. She received her IBM & PMP certifications in 1999. She has an MBA from Pace University. She authored two project management articles and has been honored with many service awards. |

PMP Exam Preparation Class The Westchester Chapter of PMI is pleased to announce another PMP Exam Preparation course which will assist the PMP Certification candidate in preparing for the PMP Exam, the four hour exam required for this valuable globally recognized credential. This course will be offered on the Rockland campus of Iona College in Pearl River NY. The nine four-hour sessions will be conducted on Saturdays from 9am through 1pm starting on October 16th and ending on December 11th (skipping November 27th of Thanksgiving weekend as the Iona College campus is closed on this day). This course is a comprehensive review of each of the nine Knowledge Areas addressed in the PMBOK (as relative to the five Process Groups and as applicable to the 42 PMBOK Processes). Instructor led lecture will present the subject matter as documented in the PMBOK and as tested by PMI in the PMP Exam. The instructor will also facilitate 'in-class' practice exams as well as guide students in the use of the Velociteach InSite 'on-line' study aid and practice testing facility. The exam passing rate for students attending PMI Westchester Chapter courses is excellent and we are proud of the hard work and success of our students. It will be possible to earn 36 education credits with the completion of all class requirements (credits toward the 35 training hours required for the PMP Certification). The price of this course will be $800 for members of the Westchester Chapter of PMI and $900 for non-members. For this fee the student will be provided with the Andy Crowe textbook "The PMP Exam: How to Pass on Your First Try" (a $79 value), the associated workbook, as well as a three month subscription to the Velociteach InSite eLearning study aid and practice test facility (a $199 value). The student will also be required to purchase separately the PMI PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge), Version 4, on which the PMP Exam is based. Seating is limited, so be sure to check back at www.PMIWestchester.org when registration opens in early August. Specific questions about the course or the Chapter should be directed to Pawan Kumar (Chapter Director of Education) at pawan.kbham@gmail.com. Further information on PMI, PMP and PMBOK is available at www.PMI.org.
