Have you felt less than confident when taking on a complex project or making that executive presentation? Have you sometimes let self-doubt stop you from asking for that promotion or negotiating a salary? Do you wonder how some people always seem confident, while you experience anxiety in the presence of people or situations?
You are not alone! We all have moments or extended periods of doubt; how we move past the doubts and project that confidence is what distinguishes us in the workplace and in our personal lives. The good news is that confidence can be learned through self awareness and specific strategies
In this interactive session, you will learn what confidence is, why building confidence matters, and how to build confidence as a PM. The benefits of self confidence are many, positively impacting personal and professional satisfaction.
Maria De Borba Silva is a PMP with over 20 years' experience in public health care program management.
Maria currently works at Westchester Medical Center’s Transplant Center. She is their first-ever Outreach Coordinator, working throughout the Hudson Valley to educate health care professionals and patients with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) on the benefits of kidney transplantation.
Maria is Charter President of PMIW’s Toastmasters Club, founded in 2020. She currently holds the position of VP of Education in the Toastmasters Club. She encourages all PMIW members to check out a meeting!
Laxmi Vallury is originally from Mumbai, India. She has extensive experience in the Cable and Telecommunications industry, working for Fortune 500 companies. Over the last year, she has supported a software company for application testing and release management. Although she has worked in different roles over the years, her primary background is in Process, Project/Program, and Vendor Management.
She is a Professional Certified Coach and Certified Emotional Intelligence Coach through The Coach Training Academy. She recently launched Mindtelligence, LLC, which helps women make Mindshift changes to bring greater balance into their life. A recovering workaholic and "control freak", she recognizes the role the mind plays in how we show up in our professional and personal lives. Confidence, assertiveness and communication skills all start with being less married to the outcome and more married to the journey.
She serves as VP of Career and Professional Development at PMI Westchester, and President of PMI Westchester Toastmasters Club. She is also a member of Kidneystories Toastmasters.
She lives in North Carolina with husband Joe and two cats, Prudie and Uma.
This will be a hybrid meeting. Registration is required for both in-person and remote attendance.
The in-person side of the hybrid meeting will be at The Royal Palace. There will be no admittance to "walk-ins" at the door.
The remote side of the meeting will take place via Zoom.
