Topic:
Can’t We All Just Get Along Here? - It's All About Team Dynamics

Selfie of Dave Harry holding his PMIW Certificate of AppreciationLean is known as a “Team Sport”, and all team members need to get along. But what if they don’t get along? How do team leaders, facilitators and team members recognize a dysfunctional team and what can they do about it? Yelling “Can’t we all just get along here?” is not enough. Recognizing dysfunctional teams is the first step. What is Bruce Tuckman’s model for group performance?

Using Bruce Tuckman’s Forming/Storming/Norming/Performing model for group performance as a guide, our speaker, David A. Harry, PMP CSSBB LBC CSM, will share case study scenarios highlighting ways to recognize when groups or teams are not performing at their peak. As groups come together, what happens as they Form, Storm, and Norm to reach the Performing Stage? Lastly, why is it so important to have an Adjourning Stage?

High-performing teams are led by leaders who recognize the natural stages of team development. Join the conversation to improve your practice. How do you recognize when teams are not performing to their peak? In what ways can you support team members to ensure success and performance? In this session, we’ll walk through the underlying causes of team non-performance and apply the correct countermeasures to achieve team performance.
