Position Summary

The Program Manager will be accountable for the contract performance of assigned Parker systems, products, or services to achieve programmatic business objectives. Serves as the customer advocate and ensures effective program management processes, cost and risk management, and commitments to customers are met. Provides oversight and leadership to functional staff/teams assigned to support the program(s). Manages a program of broad scope and complexity (e.g. program cost, number and type of customers and internal teams, contract or technical complexity). Programs typically are for critical major components/systems for a diverse set of customers.

 

Responsibilities:

1.      Lead technical, commercial, and coordination initiatives, such as, design to cost; projects schedule development, and/or requirement negotiations.

2.      Plan and manage execution of system development and deployment.

3.      Strategic thinker with ability to meet customer and division key objectives.

4.      Execution of large scale systems integration statement of work.

5.      Leads multi-discipline teams in the development of detailed project plans covering mature and new product development programs that may require technical input and oversight, whose deliverables include electronics hardware, software, test equipment and data for commercial and military Aerospace applications.

6.      Ensures program proposals meet customer requirements and best interests of Parker by reviewing technical information (e.g. statement of work and specifications) and integration requirements of program technical elements, ensuring pricing is correct, evaluating manpower requirements, and performing risk analyses. Ensures proposals are in compliance with Company, divisional and government regulations. Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes.

7.      Ensures successful customer relationships by responding to all customer requests and serving as the prime point of contact for assigned program status and problem resolution. Acts as primary customer contact for program activities.

 

Qualifications:

1.      Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field, and experience which has required both technical product and contractual/program management knowledge.

2.      Ten or more years of increasingly responsible experience with high technology products and customers including five or more years of program and customer management experience with major revenue or scope of responsibility.

3.      Familiarity with the processes required to support safety critical designs typical of an Aerospace application, including DO178 and DO254.

4.      Experience in commercial, contractual, and technical negotiations.

5.      Technical and logistics management experience on a joint development program in an Aerospace company.

6.      Demonstrated competency in Program Management processes (as defined by the PMI PMBOK) on tools such as Microsoft Project, critical path analysis, earned value management, risk management and scope control.

7.      Experience in managing cross functional engineering teams including offshore development activities a plus.

8.      Certification in program management through the Project Management Institute is preferred.

9.      Travel may be required to customer and/or other Parker sites (10-15%).
