Project/Product Manager – Flat World Knowledge (full-time, in Westchester, NY)

We are seeking an expert-level Project Manager to run project management and contribute to our product roadmap for our existing open textbook platforms, currently developed in PHP and Ruby-On-Rails. You are experienced:-

- building and scaling consumer web applications

- in translating between business and technology teams

- in rolling up your sleeves and hacking SQL, scripts in PHP, or HTML

The role will report to and collaborate with CTO to deliver the next iteration of our digital-based platform for open textbooks, and you will be part of our fast-moving technology team. You will serve as the key link between business and technology, and will derive, document, communicate, promote, and continuously refine product vision and roadmaps supporting business goals, objectives, and expectations. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of cutting-edge technology systems.

Requirements:

- Experience in project management for high availability consumer-facing web sites, on a Linux platform in a mixed open-source environment.

- (optional) Experience delivering websites and systems in PHP and/or Ruby-on-Rails, MySQL, experience in XHTML, CSS and Javascript

- (optional) Experience with eCommerce, DocBook XML and XSL

- Comfortable with a start-up environment, agile practices (XP & Scrum), web-savvy business teams, and many tasks / responsibilities
