We are currently seeking an IT Project Managerto be based at our Corporate Offices in White Plains , New York .  This position will be responsible for managing medium to large scale Information Technology projects.  The Project Manager will  perform the tasks of a Project Manager on IT/application development projects within Starwood.  The Project Manager will be responsible for maintaining project plans, project budgets, risk and issue tracking and mitigation, project communications internally with the team as well as to business leads and business sponsors.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 Project communications both internal to the team as well as to business leads and sponsors

 

Project budgets

 

Managing project plans, tracking and mitigating risk and issues on the project

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for managing medium to large scale information technology projects

The project manager must be able to multi-task, working one or more software development projects, managing budgets, identifying and mitigating project risks and issues, etc.

Leads the development and tracking of project plans

Establishes and maintains clear and consistent project communications to entire stakeholder community

Works with the SDM (Solutions Delivery Manager) on project plans, budgets, risks and issues and mitigation of both

 Tracks and maintains budgeted capital projects

 Maintains processes to manage scope over the project lifecycle

Ensures key project roles and responsibilities are defined

Ensures the use of best practices and applies lessons learned from previous projects

Successful experience influencing projects in a "matrix" environment

Effectively brings the technical and business teams together to solve complex issues

 Manages third party partner and/or vendor relationships and deliverables

 

 

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, such as:

 

 · When projects are initiated the project manager assigned will be responsible for getting project estimates from the technical teams and creating documentation to get budget required

·  Establishes and maintains project communications

·  Tracks and maintains project budgets, capital and expenses

·  Assesses and manages risks and issues within a project

 

 

 

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:

·         Tools:MS Project, MS Word, Visio, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Rational’s Tool set         

·         Operating Systems: Windows XP, 2003, NT,HPUX,Solaris

·         Applications: SAP Financials and SAP Project Systems, MQ Series

·         Processes: Rational Unified Process (RUP) or  SDLC equivalent

·         Languages: Familiarity with object-oriented languages including Java, C++

·         Frameworks: Familiarity with J2EE and .NET

·         Databases: Oracle, DB2, Access, SQL Server

 

 

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

 

Education: 4 Year College Degree

                    

 

Experience: 3-5 years Project Management in Application Development Experience, including involvement in the software development  life-cycle (SDLC).

Licenses or Certificates: PMP/PMI preferred but not required
