
Global Project Manager, Strategy & Operations

DESCRIPTION
The
Human Capital Strategy & Operations team is an internal team which supports
Mercer’s Human Capital business. The
Human Capital business provides consulting services to half of the Fortune 100
companies. Its global operations include 1,500 employees working in 92 cities
in 40 countries. The Global Project Manager will be in charge of the Project Management
Office (PMO) overseeing the implementation of a number of high profile
initiatives for the global Human Capital business. This position operates with authority for
recommending and making important & complex project decisions regarding
overall priorities and objectives in key areas. This position reports to the Global Director,
Business Strategy & Operations for Human Capital. It is a temporary position with potential to convert to a full time position.
Primary responsibilities
for 2010 global implementation program include:
§ Proactively lead and
coordinate all PMO activities associated with implementing and managing 2010
global initiatives that include methodology implementation, product and
solutions development, operations & sales excellence programs
§ Provide ongoing reports
summarizing progress & deliverables, risks & dependencies, conflicts
and critical issues / obstacles; facilitate cost management and provide recommendations
for improving the overall position
§ Actively measure and
review initiatives progress and potential risks, resolve operational issues and
project resource support
§ Provide implementation
roll out and communication support
§ Leverage Mercer
resources, best practice project management procedures / guidelines and techniques
/ tools used as needed in the management / coordination of projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
§ Expert knowledge of project
management techniques, concepts and tools with proven track record of successfully
managing and leading complex global program implementations (minimum of 3 years
experience, preferably in a consulting firm)
§ Strong people
management skills and ability to influence multiple stakeholders without direct
management responsibility; proven success in driving the execution of
challenging and complex initiatives
§ Strong interpersonal
skills with the ability to work effectively within globally distributed virtual
teams; excellent oral and written communication skills
§ Motivated self-starter
with exceptional facilitation skills and ability to prioritize and handle
multiple tasks in a demanding, face-paced and rapidly changing work environment
§ Advanced proficiency
in office and project management tools (e.g., MS Office, MS Project, Excel,
PowerPoint)
§ Willingness to travel
for business as needed
§ Knowledge and
understanding of Mercer's business practices and functions is a plus
§ Internationally
recognized certification in project management is a plus
