| (Letter from the President continued from the previous page) Call for Papers for April 8 Chapter Meeting In April, instead of the usual 45-minute talk by a polished professional speaker, the April chapter meeting will be open to three of our constituents to present their project management experiences to the group. Each presenter will have 15 minutes. This is an excellent opportunity to increase your visibility to your peers, practice your presentation skills, talk about something that excites you, and earn PDUs. If you have something that interests you, we want to hear about it. Contact John Murphy or Anita Wilton, our VPs of Programs, to get on the program. Membership About 25% of our mailing list is made up of members of the chapter. Membership dues are what keep us in business and able to provide you with the excellent programs you have seen. Many of our programs are free, including the Breakfast Roundtables, PMP Study Group, and Professional Development meeting. Your membership makes this possible, and now is the time to join. You can join online by logging on to the PMI HQ web or by calling PMI HQ at 610-356-4600. For $25 you can help ensure this vital resource continues to serve the community, and be where the action is in local project management in 2004. All the best, |

Project Management Journal Goes Online PMI is upgrading its research and academic quarterly to increase its reach. As part of this upgrade, beginning in April 2004, electronic distribution of the Project Management Journal will be emphasized, and PMI will discontinue automatically mailing printed versions of the Journal to members who do not specifically request a printed copy. A printable version of the Journal will be posted on the Members Area of the Web site. Institutional and academic subscribers will continue to receive their printed versions of the Journal. PMI members can continue receiving a print copy, while having access to current and archival issues online, by e-mailing pmjinprint@pmi.org and including your name, member identification number and mailing address. The deadline to sign up to receive the April edition of the Journal in print is Friday, March 5, 2004. PMP Credential Receives Accolade The PMP credential has recently been named as one of CertCities.com's "10 Hottest Certifications for 2004". The list is based on the results of CertCities.com's annual reader survey, which asked a diverse group of information technology professionals what certification titles they plan to achieve within the next 12 months. These results were then compiled into a reader interest score for each title. A “buzz score” from industry experts and contributing editors was also added based on the certification's reputation, the industry's take on the title and accolades it received. You can view the article at www.certcities.com. |
